Easily the biggest donkey I have ever ridden. Big Sam was all heart. He defied my theory about donkeys of his size and stature; that they are not as able to move themselves about as easily as donkeys of a slightly shorter height. Sam could step up and lope as easily and for as long as a person could want. Now he spends his days keeping Mary Ellen Nicholas happy as her donkey companion.
